Start with the wall. Find your scale.

Art should feel connected to the room around it. Before choosing a piece, consider the furniture below, the open space beside it, and the distance from which you will usually see it.

Picture the finished size

Orenmere’s size selectors show the finished outside-frame dimensions, measured width × height. Mark that outline with removable paper or low-tack tape suitable for your wall finish, then step back and view it from across the room.

Size examples

  • 53.2 × 43.2 cm (approximately 20.9 × 17.0 in), landscape: the works by Corot, Chardin, Inness and Kyhn.
  • 43.2 × 53.2 cm (approximately 17.0 × 20.9 in), portrait: Hammershøi’s Interior with the Artist’s Easel and Dow’s Dragon and Orchard.
  • 31.2 × 38.2 cm (approximately 12.3 × 15.0 in), portrait: Whistler’s The Little Lagoon.
  • 38.2 × 31.2 cm (approximately 15.0 × 12.3 in), landscape: Whistler’s Nocturne: Blue and Gold—Southampton Water.

Each work has one selected size, with a choice of black or oak-finish framing and an ivory window mat.

Understand the measurements

The paper dimensions refer to the sheet inside the frame. The image and mat-opening dimensions describe the visible image area, which varies with the composition. The outside-frame dimensions describe the complete framed piece on your wall. Each product page lists these measurements separately.

In The Little Lagoon, the reproduced image includes the original print sheet’s pale margins as well as the etched scene. Those margins remain part of the work’s presentation.

Choose an orientation

A horizontal work can echo a sofa or console. A vertical work can bring focus to a narrow wall or reading corner. Leave enough surrounding space for the composition to feel intentional.

Bring the palette together

Look for a connection with an existing color or material in the room. A shared undertone can create cohesion; a deliberate contrast can give the work more presence.

Before you order

Check the product’s outside-frame dimensions, image size, orientation and frame finish. Framed and room images are digital previews; use the listed dimensions to judge scale. Screen settings and room lighting can affect how colors appear.
